Day-to-day products

In terms of base petrochemicals, we produce monomers such as ethylenepropylenebenzenebutadiene and other products that form the basis of derivative petrochemicals. Due to the company’s high level of integration, the vast majority of these raw materials are used in the manufacture of derivatives and the rest is sold.

Our derivative chemicals include intermediate products and polyolefins. Among the former arestyrene, propylene oxide, polyether polyolsandpropylene glycols

Polyolefins, the best-known plastics, offer a broad combination of properties like flexibility, strength, low weight, stability, impermeability and easy sterilisation. This winning combination has led to them becoming the materials of choice in many industries and suitable for a variety of applications.

Providing sustainable solutions

Our production in Europe is centralised in three major petrochemical complexes: two in Spain, situated in Puertollano and Tarragona and one in Portugal in Sines.

It is this integration with the group’s refining and Repsol’s strategy of constantly generating value that has succeeded in securing its customers’ trust, with highly innovative products and services; ensuring a measure of sound business growth in the medium and long term, and marketing its products in more than 95 countries.

Repsol’s Chemicals Division products are used to manufacture everyday articles which improve people’s quality of life, well-being and safety and are found in almost all industrial segments: agriculture, automotive industry, well-being and consumer products, building and infrastructure, packaging, healthcare, and household.

Best European Polymer Producer

We thank our clients for their recognition, for the fifth consecutive year, in the “Best Polymer Producers Awards for Europe 2020,” granted by the European Association of Plastic Converters EuPC (European Plastics Converters Association). On this occasion, Repsol received four out of the ten awards available for this edition: the Best Producer Award for High Density Polyethylene (HDPE), Low Density Polyethylene (LDPE), Polypropylene (PP), and the overarching award on Circularity covering all polymer types. It is an honor to be recognized by our clients for our strategy, focused on the client and on the circular economy as it motivates us to continue working along the same lines in the future.

Best European polymer producer ranking

In 2019, the European Plastics Converters Association (EuPC) Repsol was once again named Europe’s Best Polymer Producer, this time in the low density polyethylene (LDPE) category. In 2018, we won the Best European Producer of polypropylene, and in 2017 and 2016 we likewise won the Best Polymer Producers award for our high density polyethylene (HDPE). Also, in 2016, we received the Global Innovation Award for our quality standards, regulatory compliance, efficiency, communication, and innovation.

The winners are selected based on a survey involving polymer customers throughout Europe, a fact that gives us enormous satisfaction since it reinforces the vision and principles that the Company is promoting to differentiate itself and makes it clear that our customers are our most valuable assets.
