Minimizing emissions from our operations
At Repsol, we exhaustively monitor operating conditions to control air emissions from our activities. Atmospheric emissions are one of the main areas of work for the Company. Therefore, all our industrial facilities have a network of continuous measurement systems at the emission sources that allow us to continuously measure and analyze the composition and levels of our atmospheric emissions.
The data obtained is provided to the competent environmental authorities for monitoring and control. In addition to continuously measuring our emissions, we monitor air quality through emission booths located at strategic points and shared with administrations to ensure a quick response if a deterioration in air quality is observed. We are committed to reducing emissions from our operations by using the best available technologies (BAT) and applying the highest standards to minimize our impact on air quality. We operate in regions, such as the European Union, where legal requirements in this sector require us to meet the most stringent targets. In countries where there is no regulation, we apply internal standards that allow us to operate with minimal impact.
Using clean fuels
We obtain the energy required for our processes from natural gas, which minimizes the generation of SO2 and particulate matter in its combustion.
Cutting nitrogen oxides (NOx) emissions
In energy generation activities, we reduce NOx emissions by adopting new technologies and controlling operating conditions.
