Recognized for our innovation at Expoquimia 2023

Chemical News 29/06/2023

We have been granted the "Best in Class" award for our Stock Control digital initiative at Expoquimia, the leading fair for the chemical industry in Spain, held in Barcelona from May 30 to June 2, together with the Plastics Fair, Equiplast. In addition, we have participated in different conferences with three presentations.

At the Expoquimia fair, this year focusing on sustainability, digitization, and technology transfer, different companies have been awarded for valuing solutions in the sector to promote innovation through diverse industrial projects in which chemistry has played a significant role in transforming production and business processes.

It was in the "Industry Showcase" knowledge space where Juan Gil, Transversal Projects and Digitization Manager, had the opportunity to present our success story, thanks to our Stock Control digital initiative, developed in collaboration with Telefónica Tech, for which we have been awarded the "Best in class" in the field of digitization. An artificial intelligence solution to transform us into a data-driven company by optimizing our logistics operations, supporting us in the analysis of more than 29 million variables, making them more agile and efficient, as well as reducing the carbon footprint by diminishing material transfers between internal and external warehouses.

In addition, during the congress, we offered several presentations. In the SmartChemistry SmartFuture agora of Feique (Business Federation of the Spanish Chemical Industry), we present our projects related to the circular economy. Susana García, Technical Assistance and Development Manager explained the recycling process for flexible polyurethane foams and analyzed the technology we have opted for and our value proposition for Repsol Reciclex® polyol in her presentation, "Closing the foam circle flexible polyurethane.

"Promoting the model of circularity and sustainability of plastics" was the presentation presented by Noemí Artal, Reciclex Manager, showing the sustainable solutions that we are developing, such as our new ranges of recycled polyolefins, created applying eco-design techniques, and introducing into our mechanical and chemical recycling products under our Repsol Reciclex® brand. And our new ranges of bio-based polyolefins, made with raw materials of bio origin, such as used oil residues, have a negative carbon footprint.

In the circular economy event organized by PlasticEurope with ANAIP (Spanish Association of Plastics Industry) and AEQT (Chemical Business Association of Tarragona, Evora Del Estal, Sr Environment Manager, was in charge of participating in the session "Act: Join the Zero Pellets Loss Commitment" with a presentation in which he was able to share the good practices that we are carrying out to implement the international Operation Clean Sweep® (OCS) program in all our complexes, to which we adhered in 2015 and whose objective is to prevent the loss of pellets to the environment.

Finally, we also participated in the conference "Innovation in Chemical Recycling in Spain: Betting on a circular future" organized by Plastics Europe together with AIMPLAS (Plastic Technological Institute), Feique, and SusChem (Technological and Innovation Platform for Sustainable Chemistry ) in a session in which Yolanda Yuste, an expert in pyrolysis and oil technology, announced our initiatives that are underway in terms of chemical recycling.
